Westwater Construction Inc., a Sarasota-based luxury home builder, dedicated
its time, employees, and money to help in the cleanup efforts after Hurricane
Charley. On Aug. 24 the company closed for one day and, with tools in
hand, went to Arcadia to help those affected by the hurricane.
The volunteer efforts were coordinated through the Arcadia Church of God and
included removing trees and debris from ten homes, sorting
through donations, such as clothing and canned foods,
and distributing items.
Westwater also organized a collection fund in which employees donated money
to the Salvation Army to aid in the relief efforts.
"As a company we felt it very important to help our
neighbors. There may be a time when we need to call
on them for help," said Mark Miller, owner of Westwater
Construction.
